Bidford-on-Avon Parish Council Bidford and District History Society

Bidford and District History Society

A commemorative plaque by the Anglo Saxon car park

Since its September 2006 launch Bidford and District History Society has enjoyed a thriving membership with meeting venues packed.

The aim of the society is to entertain and inform people who have curious minds about interesting historical subjects.

This includes guest speakers; outings and projects based on historical topics. Some meetings focus on very local issues while others consider the impact of national issues on this area (such as men going off to war).

Some meetings consider more general topics such as families owning pigs or the medieval Christmas. There is a real diversity of subjects.

There is a modest annual membership fee of £15 per person, and refreshments are available after meetings.

Programme of Meetings

Meetings are usually held on the third Friday of the month at 7.30pm in either St Laurence Church, or the Church Hall.

See the Upcoming Events page for details of our forthcoming meetings.

Visit the Society website at www.bidfordhistory.org.uk to see our programme and read about some recent meetings.

Shakespeare Hospice Donation 2009
