Broom Women's Institute meets on the first Thursday of the month.
We are a small group that enjoys various events arranged for the whole year. The WI opens up many opportunities to visit different venues within the Warwickshire Federation and further afield.
During the WI Centenary Year, 2015 Broom WI was kept very busy. Here are some of the events of the past year:
In February we took to the stage in our village hall and acted out a short play based on a WI meeting as part of an evening of entertainment by various organisations in our village. Two of our members have been on trips to London, one organised by Warwickshire Federation and one by Bidford on Avon WI. In June three of our members attended the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the Centenary of the WI. We had our own celebratory Afternoon Tea in August and also attended Bidford on Avon WI's tea party. We entered two teams in our Federation Quiz this year. We didn't win but it is taking part that is important! One of our members enjoyed a day at the Centenary Fair in Harrogate. At our Group Meeting in October Broom WI came second in the competition to depict 100 years of the WI. One of our ladies attended a course on winter car maintenance. We had our usual Christmas Craft evening at our December meeting and our final event of the year was our Christmas Meal at a local restaurant. Our members have enjoyed the regular monthly meetings with a wide variety of speakers and a garden meeting in July when it managed NOT to rain!
We now look forward to 2016.
Brenda our President or Helen our Secretary would be only too pleased to answer any queries you may have. We would be delighted to hear from you.
This friendly group always concludes our meetings socially with refreshments, so we can get to know one another and expanding our friendships.
Please come and spend an evening with us at Broom Village Hall. Meetings begin at 7.30pm. Visitors are made very welcome.
