Broom Women's Institute meets on the first Thursday of the month at the Village Hall at 7.30pm.
We are a small group that enjoys various events arranged for the whole year. In the past we have had interesting and original speakers who have entertained and made our evenings enjoyable.
In 2016, Broom WI had another busy year. Our members have taken part in many activities organised by the County Federation. We enjoyed two trips to London and a lunch a Wroxall Abbey where the speaker was Michael Portillo. We joined Bidford WI on a coach trip to Craven Arms, Ludlow and Stokesay Castle. We entered quiz teams for the Federation Quiz and at an evening social event organised by Studley WI. We didn’t win, but we didn’t disgrace ourselves!
We were invited by Luddington WI to their Strawberry Tea in June. Friendships were formed and Luddington WI came to our September meeting. Hopefully more social meetings will take place in 2017.
In August, a group of our members had a day out at Upton House, a National Trust property at Edgehill. In October we hosted the Group Meeting attended by Bidford on Avon, Long Marston and Temple Grafton WIs. We were thrilled to win the competition to “Depict a Shakespeare Play” with our entry based on Macbeth.
Our Christmas meal was held locally, plus we had our usual Christmas Craft Workshop and festive buffet at our December meeting.
Brenda our President or Helen our Secretary would be only too pleased to answer any queries you may have. We would be delighted to hear from you.
This friendly group always concludes our meetings socially with refreshments, so we can get to know one another and expanding our friendships.
