Barton Village
Barton - it's that little hamlet on the way to Welford with the Cottage of Content at its midst. Read on to discover the characters, events and chosen charities which the residents contribute to in their own special way.
Barton is a blink and you've missed it kind of place. It is an ancient settlement first recorded in the 13th century.
The Heart of England footpath passes through the village, and you could be forgiven for thinking you were on the continent, as most weekends the 'Tour de France' speeds through in one form or another.
Whilst many villages bemoan the fact that they are losing their hearts, as post offices and shops close, and second home owners take over, Barton makes the very best of its:
- Post Box!
- Small market garden shop (summer times only)
- Pumping station, pretty useful in saving us from the ravages of the Avon in full flood
- The Pub
- And last but not least, the wonderful mix of residents, who make it a fun place to live!
See the Barton Village web site for much more information about Barton, and what folks there are up to.
